Events: Pain, Fascia & the Bowen Technique
At some point in our lives all of us have experienced pain, it is a common theme that unites us all. For example, in the UK it is estimated that up to 80% of adults experience back pain at some stage in their lives, and the NHS estimates that nearly 1 in 20 people may be affected by Fibromyalgia.
For some that pain is, thankfully, short lived, but for many pain has a much longer-term and debilitating impact on their lives. So how and why do we experience pain? And, other than medication, how else can we address a wide range of pain presentations, from golfers elbow to back pain, from back pain to chronic pain conditions like Fibromyalgia and everything in between?
Julian Baker, Bowen teacher and Functional Anatomist, is going to answer just those questions in a series of informal and entertaining presentations held throughout East Anglia and designed to help you understand the way the human body hangs together, why it sometimes goes wrong, and the best way of fixing it when it does. Using 30 years worth of experience treating and teaching people all over the world he will be looking at how and why we experience pain and exploring and explaining scientific research into the important role of fascia in our body and its role in both transmitting and addressing pain.
He’ll also be looking at The Bowen Technique, a gentle therapy that works with the fascia in our body, helping to address a wide range of pain presentations quickly and effectively.
Local Bowen Therapists will also be on hand to answer any questions or queries you have, and enable you to try a bit of Bowen for yourself.
Ticket prices: £3.50 early bird (up to and including 18th May), £5.00, and £6.00 on the door. All profits will be donated to The Tom Bowen Legacy Trust Fund UK (TBLTF). The TBLTF was formed to support children with a variety of disabilities, and offers help to children who have received Bowen Therapy treatment and provides gifts of electrical, mechanical, sensory and electronic equipment to enhance their quality of life.
